Delayed Honeymoons. Yay or Nay?

As destination weddings are an undeniable wedding trend, the rise of “delayed honeymoons” have increased in popularity.

As Ken and I prepared for our recent destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico, there were plenty of things I was willing to compromise on – but our honeymoon was not one of them.

I knew juggling the demands of working full time and planning a wedding in another country, at a resort we’d never visited was going to take its toll. 50 of our closest friends and family members would be traveling from all over to celebrate with us and while the idea of jet setting off to our honeymoon at the conclusion of our wedding sounded great in theory, I knew it would be too much to prepare for. I’d miss our pups, I’d need to plan far in advance to miss that much consecutive time out of the office, I’d have to pack twice as much, etc.

Ultimately, Ken and I decided to go enjoy our destination wedding in Mexico this past April, and then unplug and head to the Maldives for our honeymoon in June. Time has flown and we are just a few short weeks away from heading literally around the world to enjoy 16 uninterrupted days together as Husband and Wife – and I could not be more elated.

What do you think?

Did you postpone your honeymoon? Are you for, or against it?
